Six More Show-Cause Notices Served by the Trust

[This is the notice issued to Varun Pabrai by the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust. The same has been served to five others who participated in a silent protest against the Trustees' inaction with regard to Peter Heehs and his book "Lives of Sri Aurobindo". The same strong reply of Prof. Kittu Reddy has been sent to the Trustees for all the six inmates of the Ashram. The message that comes across is that the inmates of the Ashram have no right to protest but Peter Heehs has the full liberty to criticise and denigrate Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in their own Ashram.]

SUB: SHOW CAUSE NOTICE Dated 27th January, 2012

Dear Shri Manoj Das Gupta

1. This has reference to the Show Cause Notice referred above and received by me on 28th January, 2012.

2. At the outset, I place on record my emphatic denial and repudiation of all the baseless and motivated allegations leveled against me in the Notice under reference. I state that these misguided allegations have been made with the single pointed purpose of intimidating me in particular and the inmates of the Ashram at large and stifle and muffle our outspoken campaign against the illegal and anti-national activities of the Trustees of Sri Aurobindo Ashram.

3. My lawyers are in the process of preparing a detailed reply and you are requested to make available to me on the highest priority the following documents by Regd Post/AD:

a) A legally validated copy of the Rules of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, 2003.

b) Reference to the specific clauses of the Trust Deed that empower you to issue Show Cause Notices to Inmates of the Ashram.

4. You stand warned in the meantime that any further iIlegal, arbitrary and intimidatory actions on your part aimed at denying me my basic rights as an inmate of the Ashram will be countered with the full force of law.

5. I mark a copy of this letter to the relevant Police Authorities of Pondicherry concerned in order to inform them of the situation and request them for action should it be required in view of your long history and record of physical coercion and violence against inmates who refuse to bow to your reign of terror and mindless victimization.

Truly,

Varun Pabrai
